What causes the Whoops error?
The Whoops error appears when your device's clock is more than 5 minutes out of sync — either ahead or behind the actual current time. Sertifi converts all timestamps to UTC and checks whether your device's time falls within a 5-minute window of the server time. If it falls outside that window, you will see the Whoops screen instead of the portal.
Important: Your time zone setting does not cause this error. It does not matter which time zone your device is set to — only whether the clock itself is accurate. A device showing the correct local time in any time zone will work fine.
How to fix it
- Check your device's current time against a reliable source (such as time.is or your phone's clock).
- If your device's clock is more than 5 minutes off, correct it:
- Windows: Right-click the clock in the taskbar → Adjust date/time → Turn on "Set time automatically"
- Mac: System Preferences → Date & Time → Check "Set date and time automatically"
- Mobile: Settings → General → Date & Time → Set Automatically
- Refresh your browser and attempt to log in again.
Still seeing the error?
If your clock appears correct and you are still seeing the Whoops screen, clear your browser cache and cookies and try again. If the issue persists, contact Sertifi Support at SupportSertifi@flywire.com.
