What is eAuthorization?
Sertifi eAuthorization (eAuth) allows your property to securely collect and store a guest's credit card details before a stay or event — without charging the card. YSertifi Support can then unmask and view those details when it is time to process the charge through your PMS.
How it works
- YSertifi Support sends an eAuthorization form to the guest via Sertifi.
- The guest fills in their credit card details and submits the secure form.
- The card details are tokenized and stored securely in Sertifi.
- An authorized team member unmasks the card details when needed to process the charge.
What must be configured before eAuth works
| Setting | Where to find it | What's required |
|---|---|---|
| Payment Settings | Administration > Account Settings > Payment Settings | Must be enabled. This unlocks the Payments section in Account Settings. |
| Gateway | Administration > Account Settings > Payment Settings > Gateways & Rules | A gateway must be active. Sertifi configures this during onboarding. |
| Authorization form | Document Library or eForm | A form must be uploaded to the Document Library or an eForm must be created (Next Gen only). |
| Security Group | Administration > Account Settings > Security Settings | Users who need to unmask card details must be added to the Can View Unmasked CC security group. |
Common issues
- Guest cannot submit the form — Ask them to use Chrome and disable autofill extensions. Try incognito mode.
- Card icon not showing after submission — Confirm the user is in the Can View Unmasked CC security group and has logged out and back in.
- Cannot find the submitted authorization — Go to Home > View All Files and search by guest email.
