Overview
If you see an error message containing INVALID SPECIALS when Sertifi attempts to push data to Opera, this is caused by a missing or incorrect entry in the SPECIALS preference group in your Opera configuration.
Error Message
"Unable to add specials to reservation. Message: INVALID SPECIALS"
What This Means
Opera requires a valid special code when Sertifi records payment or authorization information on a reservation. If a matching code does not exist in your SPECIALS preference group, Opera rejects the entry with this error.
What Your Property Needs to Do
This is a configuration change that needs to be made in your Opera system. Your Opera administrator or IT team will need to:
- Navigate to the SPECIALS preference group in your Opera configuration.
- Add a code for Sertifi — something that your front desk staff will recognize (for example, "SERTIFI" or a similar designation).
Once the code is added and saved, the error should resolve. Contact your Oracle representative or Oracle support if you are not sure how to access the SPECIALS preference group.
